What's the deal here?
Zuzula offers artists free space to upload their mp3s for sale. It's essentially
an online music store that costs you nothing to display and sell your
music and relieves you of the hassle of shipping and handling CDs. Music
is sold on a per track basis of $.99 per song. Sign up here.

Why should I sell my
music here?
We offer artists
free account setup, plus a 60% royalty on any tracks they sell.
For comparison sake, a recent article in Business 2.0 says that the average
artist cut from an online download is 12%, and Rolling Stone says the average artist cut from a CD is 10%. When you accumulate royalties
of $5 or over, we'll send you a royalty check, which we send out on a
daily basis. Plus, your fans can sign up for your personal Artist Alert,
an email that goes out every time you upload new music to your page. And
every time your music sells, you'll receive an email that details your
song sales for that week.

How do I sign up to
sell my music on Zuzula.com?
We've tried to make it as simple as possible. First, you create
an account with us that gives us your contact information as well
as the text information that will be on your Zuzula artist page. Then,
you can upload an image file (a picture of the band or your CD cover,
for example) that will be on your artist page, as well as the mp3s you
want to offer for sale. However, please note that a graphic is optional
- you can set up your page without it and add it later if you prefer.
It's that simple and, with the proper broadband connections, fast. Artist
Quickstart is a quick, easy reference of exactly what you need to
do.

What will it cost me?

How do I prepare my
music to be uploaded to the Zuzula site?
You'll need to convert your music to mp3 format (check out our list
of encoders). Zuzula can ONLY accept mp3 music files. There are several
bit rates you can use when you convert your music. Generally, higher bit
rates translate to better audio with a tradeoff of producing larger mp3
files. For example, 50 MB of mp3s encoded at 192 kb/s would play out to
approximately 38 minutes, at 160 kb/s would be approximately 45 minutes,
and at 128 kb/s would be approximately 53 minutes. Whatever encoding you
choose, remember that it's representing your music and you need to feel
confident that it's an accurate reflection. Also, we suggest using constant
bit rate encoding to minimize playback problems and maximize audio quality.
Plus, be sure to add all appropriate tags to you songs so that listeners will be able to easily identify your music.
You can find more information in our Artist
Tips section.

What if I don't have
a .jpg file to upload for my artist page?
Uploading a .jpg file for your artist page is totally optional. If you
don't have one, your page will simply format a different way. If you decide
to upload a graphic file later, your page will re-format to include your
new visual. For help generating a Zuzula-friendly graphic or photo, check out this page

How much money do I
get from each purchase?
Zuzula
offers artists a 60% royalty rate on the per song price of $.99. For
comparison sake, a recent article in Business 2.0 says that the average
artist cut from an online download is only 12% while Rolling Stone says the average artist cut from a CD is 10%. Clearly, 60% is better.

Do I give up any rights
to my music by placing it on the Zuzula site?
No. You retain all rights to your music.
Can I remove my music
at any time?
Yes. If for whatever reason you decide that your don't want to sell your
music through Zuzula, we'll deactivate your account immediately.
Is there a minimum
amount of sales that I have to make?
No, although we hope you'll encourage your fans to use Zuzula. The more
they do, the more money you'll receive, and the better we'll be able to
continue to offer and upgrade our service. Be aware that we do have a
$5 minimum for us to send out a check. That means that as long as we owe
you over $5, we'll send you a check on our daily billing schedule. If
we owe you less than $5, we'll wait until you're over to send out your
check (And honestly, if you really need some cash that we owe you right
away - regardless of whether you're under or over $5 - email us at accounts@zuzula.com
and we'll cut you a check.)

What kind of submission
agreement do I have to sign?
Our Artist License Agreement
is here. Be sure to read it carefully, but we're not trying to pull a
fast one on you.
How often do I get
paid for the music I've sold?
We send out checks daily. If the royalties you've earned are over our
minimum of $5, we'll send you a check for your sales. If it's under $5,
we'll keep your money safe and sound and send you out a check when it's
over $5. And like we said before, if you really need some cash that we
owe you right away - regardless of whether you're under or over $5 - email
us at accounts@zuzula.com and
we'll cut you a check.
